Things you must know about home combustible gas alarms
Typically domestic gas detection is limited to two main areas, Flammable gas detection (Natural gas or Liquified petroleum gas) and Carbon Monoxide. If you are using natural gas, having a natural gas alarm installed is a great safety feature for home and office.
For your safety, manufacturers add a strong odorant to natural gas or LPG that smells like rotten eggs, which helps you to detect a leak under most conditions.
Sometimes however, it is difficult for people to smell natural gas. That is why a combustible gas alarm is recommended and will sound an alarm (visual and audible alarm) if gas levels exceed a safety threshold.

Natural gas is lighter than air, The combustible gas alarm should therefore be placed on a wall not more than 30cm from the ceiling and not more than 5 meters from the gas appliance. In contrast, LPG is heavier than air, The LPG gas alarm should therefore be placed on a wall not more than 30cm from the floor.
Depending on the requirement the gas alarm can be linked to the gas shut off valve. As soon as the concentration of gas reaches critical levels, the solenoid valve gets activated to shut off the supply, preventing further leakage.
